The laughs come at the end.
Laughter relaxes your whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress. Laughing will leave your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes.
Laughter also boosts your immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
Laughter triggers the release of your body’s natural feel-good chemicals – endorphins. The natural body chemicals promote a sense of well-being. Some say they can even relieve pain.
Laughter protects the heart. Because laughter improves the function of your blood vessels by increasing blood flow, a good old laugh can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
Laughter burns calories. Okay, so it’s no replacement for working out, but a scientific study discovered that laughing for 10 to 15 minutes a day can burn off approximately 40 calories. That could be enough to lose three or four pounds over the course of a year.
Laughter lightens anger’s heavy load. After sitting in front of your computer and seeing all the annoying that pop-up it can ( and does) make you angry. And that ain’t good. No sir, as mentioned before nothing diffuses anger than a good laugh. Looking at the ‘funnies’ can put things back into perspective thus enabling you to move on without holding onto anger or resentment.
Laughter may help you to live longer. A Norwegian study into the effects of laughter found that people with a strong sense of humour can outlive those who don’t. The difference was particularly notable for those battling cancer.
So esteemed readers go ahead ….. have a LAUGH.
